The Unlikely Candidates
Based out of Fort Worth, Texas, The Unlikely Candidates are an indie rock band initially formed as an acoustic duo by childhood friends Kyle Morris and Cole Male in 2008. Eventually expanding the lineup to include guitarist Brenton Carney, bassist Jared Hornbeek, and drummer Kevin Goddard, the band was also able to expand its sound in bigger, more sweeping directions.
In 2013, the band signed on with major-label Atlantic and released their debut EP, Follow My Feet. In early 2016, the Unlikely Candidates returned with a hooky new single in “You Love Could Start a War,” which made a strong showing on Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart.
Recent Rumors hail from the small town of Tyler, TX, but are already making big moves with their music. Their first single 'Blow Me Away' was released on Feb. 17th and gained the attention from Alternative Press who immediately included the song in their weekly roundup of '10 songs from unknown artists you must hear' as well as their Spotify Discover playlist. Recent Rumors were also featured on Substream Music Magazine's website shortly after the release and have already opened for bands such as Waterparks, The Rocket Summer, William Beckett of The Academy Is, plus more!
Ian Salazar began recording and releasing music under the psuedoname 'Majik Taylor' in early 2016. Soon after conjuring up enough songs to fill a live set, he looked to fellow musicians within the 'Get With It! Records' collective to help take his sonic visions to the stage. Taking influences from 1960's psychedelia, Jazz, Funk, and Orchestral music, Majik Taylor is a force of it's own. Salazar describes his music as "something you can dance to, and something that makes you think". Majik Taylor released their first single, 'Taste' on bandcamp for free in September of 2016 and plan to release an EP in April.
